Located north of Grand Rapids in Michigan, Ford decided to incorporate sand dune testing into its testing regimen to ensure the Raptor is ready for consumer use. Ford wants the Raptor to be rough and ready when it becomes available at our dealership serving Wayne NJ in Fall 2016.
The 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor is a master at nearly all terrains, and its street style is relatively normal, making this truck pretty versatile. When tested on the sand, the Raptor appeared to handle the dunes with plenty of traction and a Torsen limited-slip differential on the front.
The 2017 Ford Raptor prototype may have also been packing some lighter tires—deflating them just a bit to make this truck appear to float across the sand. The improved engine for the Ford Raptor may also help improve the sound, but Ford hasn’t released any interior information yet. The V8 exhaust noise in former Raptors has been a pain for drivers, so Ford may improve this with some interior updates!
This truck looks more monstrous than ever with its fender flares built right in—no upgrades necessary there. The wider appearance helps Ford appeal to those who want a bigger, more muscular truck with all the horsepower it can muster.
